Vini Yoga

T. Krishnamacharya referred to his yoga practice simply as yoga, but he also coined the term “Vini-Yoga”, which means that the movements are less static and more flowing and adapted to the practitioner.

His son T.K.V Desikachar continued this approach, which today is essentially understood as Vini-Yoga. One principle is that the exercises in individual lessons or in small groups are always adapted to the needs and abilities of the student. The individual relationship between teacher and pupil plays an important role.

The exercise practice is simple, calm and not very tense. Slow, flowing movements are combined with breathing. Here is one of the few examples that can be found on the internet:

One well-known student is the Indian Sriram , who teaches in India as well as in Germany.
