Welcome!

On this page “Yoga styles in comparison” yoga styles are described in which physical exercises are practiced, which is generally understood under the term “Hatha – Yoga”.

As all these different approaches were developed in different eras and socio-cultural contexts and still exist today in an enormous variety, it is interesting to get to know them better. They are practiced in very different physical approaches – with or without a spiritual intention and philosophical background – and with a wide variety of motives. It is not easy for practitioners, but also for yoga teachers, to find their way through this diversity.

For this reason, a clear selection of styles has been compiled here to give you a first impression. Furthermore, all those who are more deeply interested should be given a more detailed insight into the context of yoga. You can find this under Yoga styles background.

Many myths persist in the yoga scene, but on closer inspection, the perception of the history of yoga as well as the practice of the exercises in the present changes. Are yoga exercises just physical exercises for maintaining health and relaxation or can they also be used for personal spiritual development?

There is also the question of whether a yoga system is suitable for promoting people in their individuality. Can yoga exercises today still achieve what was once intended in its philosophy for the liberation of the human being, the reconnection of the soul to the cosmic?

If so, how should yoga be organized today in our time so that not only the body is trained and kept healthy, but also the personality with its mental and spiritual abilities is promoted in a contemporary way in its development?

Many of these interesting questions and comparative considerations are discussed under Blog in current articles.
